Anderson Welding & Mfg., Inc. was founded in 1985 by Ronald Anderson in the building that once was Manninen Welding. Anderson Welding is located just 1 mile south of Chassell MI on US-41. The Manninen brothers erected the building in the 1960s. Their main focus was to provide welded components for the Pettibone Corporation in Baraga MI. Manninen Welding closed business in the early 1980s. The building remained empty until Ron Anderson and his Father; Walter Anderson purchased the building and property in the fall of 1985. AWM was incorporated in 1986. The main focus of business was welding repair for local customers and rebuilds of components for the underground mining industry. Opportunities to make parts for local heavy equipment manufacturers came along. Companies such as Pettibone Michigan, Baraga Products Inc. and Somero Enterprises came to AWM to have parts fabricated. The goal of AWM is to provide quality fabrications to our customers, when they want them, at a fair price.
Keith Anderson joined AWM in the spring of 1991 as office manager. In 1993 he became the General Manager of Operations. December 31, 2012, Ron Anderson retired from the business and Keith Anderson took over ownership of the corporation. Walter Anderson passed away in January 2013. Since taking over Keith has set some very clear goals; increase services offered for our customer, broaden our customer base, and improve the quality of our products.
The goals have not changed, and we understand that we need to remain flexible to meet our customers ever changing needs.
